Evie Dolan is a 20-year old singer, musician, and actor from New York City who originated the role of Katie in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony-nominated, New York Critics pick “School of Rock – the Musical”.
Evie performed eight shows a week at the Winter Garden Theater in the original Broadway cast. Prior to the Broadway run, Evie established the part of Katie in June 2015 in the Off-Broadway production of “School of Rock - the Musical” at the Gramercy Theatre in New York. In his piece on the workshop, theater critic Michael Riedel of the New York Post wrote “Everybody’s raving about the kids in the show, especially 11-year-old Evie Dolan.”
During her time on Broadway, Evie performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, on Good Morning America, The Today Show, The View, and was featured in a live performance on the American Theater Wing’s (ATW) Tony Awards. She was also nominated for the Fred and Adele Astaire Award for Outstanding Ensemble along with the rest of the cast.
Evie was featured in Drew Gasparini and School of Rock the Musical’s Alex Brightman's new musical adaptation of Ned Vizzini's "It's Kind of A Funny Story" at Feinstein's/54 Below. Evie joined Colton Ryan of Dear Evan Hansen to debut the song "Did You Know?" Evie also joined Alex Brightman to debut "A Bear in A Dress" from the new Gasparini/Brightman musical "The Whipping Boy" based on the award-winning children’s novel by Sid Fleischman.
She has been featured in a number of projects connected to Andrew Lloyd Webber such as the 30th Anniversary of “The Phantom of the Opera”. With fellow School of Rock alum, she performed the title song with Peter Jöback and the original Christine Daaé, Sarah Brightman. She also was invited to perform at ATW’s 70th Birthday gala honoring Andrew Lloyd Webber with her former band members. She performed the title song to “Phantom of the Opera” with Broadway.com Audience Awards winner Sierra Boggess and Tony Award-nominated singer-actor Norm Lewis and “Heaven on Their Minds” with the star of the Emmy Award-winning Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert star Brandon Victor Dixon.
Commercially, Evie has worked with renowned photographer Bruce Weber on “Don’t Steal the Jacket” for Moncler and “Kicking Back with my Dogs” for Shinola. She has performed in many venues in New York including Birdland, BB Kings, City Winery, the Triad Theater, Summer Stage, and Symphony Space. She was invited to perform at the 2019 Cannes Lions Festival and the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s Women Visionary conference.
She has performed at a variety of charitable events including Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS’s (BCEFA) Easter Bonnet, with Stevie Nicks, and for the American Theater Wing's Centennial Celebration. In November 2017 she performed at Rockers on Broadway and she sang the National Anthem for the National Firefighters and Law Enforcement Children’s Foundation at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade Breakfast. She has also performed at the Zanmi Beni Children’s Home in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She helped produce and performed in “Broadway Hits For Haiti”, a fundraiser for them hosted by Ben Stiller. She performed the opening number for the 2020 Ronald McDonald National Gala (virtual) alongside a star-studded cast led by Amy Poehler. She also produced a virtual fundraiser for Covid relief for Jeffrey Wright’s Brooklyn for Life.
Evie served as teen co-chair for the non-profit, Guitar Mash, playing in interactive concerts at venues such as City Winery NYC, City Winery Nashville, Le Poisson Rouge, alongside such iconic artists as John Sebastian, Ani DiFranco, Dar Williams, and Marshall Crenshaw. On behalf of the NYC Mayor’s Office, Evie promoted a city-wide youth songwriting contest.
Evie is a rising junior at Wesleyan University where she majors in film and is very engaged in the school’s music, theater, and comedy scene. She has worked on crews for senior thesis films and theatrical productions as well as originating the role of Winston Churchill in a new original student musical called, “Bonar.” She plays bass, and guitar and sings in several bands on campus. She also writes and produces comedy sketches for Wesleyan’s late-night show, “Wesleyan Tonight.”
Evie found her love for musical theater taking classes at Kid City Theater where she performed in such classic musicals as “Into the Woods” (Little Red Riding Hood); “The Sound of Music” (Gretl); “Gypsy” (June); “Annie Get Your Gun” (Little Jake); “Annie” (Annie) and “Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat” (Simeon and the baker.)
Evie plays the ukulele, bass guitar, guitar, mandolin, and piano. She loves photography, soccer, canoeing, skiing, biking, cooking and baking vegan food, sewing & upcycling clothes, is an animal lover and can walk on stilts. She studies voice, bass guitar, acting, and improv and is currently writing original music.
